Course Summary
This module is designed to train persons who are responsible for undertaking isolations on AC OLE in their daily work.
It is designed to develop a person’s knowledge, understanding and skills as defined in parts of competence standards listed below and is therefore particularly suited to persons required to prove their competence in these areas.
The Level A (Nominated)Person Is required to hold the all units in Level B which are OLE 13,14,15 and 17 and in addition OLE 16 - Manage the Isolation and Earthing of OLE.

Course Aim
To instruct delegates how to determine and fulfil their role and responsibilities when undertaking Level A (Nominated) person duties.
This course is designed to ensure delegates are fully aware of the dangers that can arise in the course of Level A (Nominated) person’s duties.
Successful completion of this course does not mean that the delegate is allowed to carry out Level A (Nominated) person’s duties, unless under the direct supervision of a mentor during their probationary period, until they have been assessed by a licensed assessor as competent to do so in accordance with NR/L2/CTM/014.
The successful completion of this course can be used as supporting evidence of competence to reach the level required in NR/L2/CTM/014.

Pre-Requisites
The candidate must:
- Minimum age of 18
- Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card and meet the requirements of NR/L2/CTM/021 – Competence and Training in Track Safety
- Meet the medical requirements of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/OHS/00124 Competence Specific Fitness Medical Requirements
- In addition, the requirements of Network Rail Specification NR/L1/OHS/051 (Drugs & Alcohol) must be met
- Must hold a valid Sentinel Track Safety Card endorsed with PTS AC competence
- Before attending this training, a person should have successfully completed:
- Current Authorised Person (AP) in full
- The First Aid for Electrical Accidents course and hold current certification.
PPE Requirements
- High visibility upper body clothing with reflective tape which complies with BS EN 471: 2003 class 2 and Railway Group Standard GO/RT3279
- High visibility lower body clothing to BS EN 471 class 1 and Railway Group Standard GO/RT3279
- A safety helmet that complies with BS EN 397: 1995
- Safety footwear which complies with BS EN ISO 20345: 2004, provides support to ankle, includes mid-sole protection and has a protective toe cap. Where used, steel or other conductive toe caps shall be covered.
Course Duration
Ten days.
